The renowned Lebanese singer Rima Khcheich started singing at the age of seven. Two years later she became soloist of the Beirut Arab Orchestra and Choir, singing the most difficult repertoire in Arabic vocal music. In 1997 she graduated of the Lebanese National Conservatory of Music, and the Lebanese American University, and started performing live throughout the Middle East, Europe and the USA specializing in Arab-Andalusian Muwashshahat form the 19th & 20th century, as well as the traditional Arabic repertoire.
In 1998, Rima Khcheich met Dutch jazz musicians from the Yuri Honing trio, featuring Yuri Honing (saxophone), Tony Overwater (double-bass) and Joost Lijbaart (drums). She performed with Tony Overwater, Yuri Honing, Maarten van der Grinten and Joost Lijbaart, the result was so gripping, the group committed immediately to producing the album Falak, joined by the acclaimed Lebanese Riq player, Ali Khatib.
