In June 2020, BAC launched its artist-in-residence program. Every year, we invite two local artists or collectives, each for a 5-month period. The structure of the residency consists of a 3-month-long research/production phase, culminating in a 2-month-long exhibition. In conversation with the directors, the residents are asked to come up with a program of up to 4 events during the period of their stay to further develop their research, share their process and influences, and engage in debate and conversation with the public.
The residency provides a platform for artists who have an established repertoire of work, but lack presentation and exhibition opportunities. Throughout the three-month residency, the artists contribute to the discursive program related to the research in development
