Roy Dib’s Mondial 2010 (2014) is a road-movie by Proxy (the images were shot by others), describes with caustic humor two lovers’ weekend in Ramallah, in a style reminiscent of home-movies. As the film unfolds, the lovers discuss their respective friends, whether or not to hide their relationship or the arrangement of their hotel room. This in turn refers to more serious questions: how does society affect love stories, and to what extent can we escape it? Where does intimacy begin? Can we truly be in love without it?
