Laure De Selys: sorties

Georges Didi-Huberman and Arno Gisinger are conceiving a program of parallel events in which videoworks born out of the Lebanese milieu meet with a selection of “atlas of images” emerging from different contexts.

Sorties by Laure De Selys

Lebanon, 30’ approximately, 2014. Arabic and English.

Twelve voices from Beirut are heard over a selection of twenty images. Confounded, they speak out of the frame. from impression to exhibition, sorties is an attempt at making a videographic journal about the impossible present through a decontextualized narration around works of art. If atlas, suite intertwines Warburg’s Mnemosyne, the era of digital reproduction and the globalization of images, the project continues to unfold in the classical exhibition space. as its name suggests, sorties seeks to find a way out.
