A Thousand Faces for a Single Sunset is a performance by Nour Ouayda composed in response to Hussein Nassereddine’s exhibition Years of the Shining Face at Beirut Art Center. At the intersection of a film curation and a filmmaking gesture, this performance weaves together two of Nassereddine’s videos — Two Birds, Sleeping (2022) and You, Only, Inhabit My Years (2024) — with live readings, songs, and audio-visual footage filmed by Ouayda for past, present and future projects.
At the heart of this performance lies an image that haunts both artists: a burning horizon, a vision that pulls us into a disrupted time where metaphors become unstable and the mythical is possible.
