Because February 29 happens only once every four years, Beirut art center is bringing you a special program involving two pioneers of industrial and electronic music.
Pacific 231 is a project by Pierre Jolivet. It came into existence in the early 1980s and belonged to the first wave of industrial groups. Early albums were released by le Syndicat, cause and effect, and bunker records. Invaluable assistance in due time was given by psyclones with whom Pierre recorded a couple of albums under the psy 231 moniker, and released on their label ladd-frith. Other notable releases include Palestine in collaboration with Rapoon and Cthulhu revisited with vox populi! On monochrome vision. Since 2010, he has become a jury member for the prestigious Luigi Russolo award.
Lieutenant caramel, aka Philippe Blanchard, composes his music in his personal studio acteon/studio forum in Annecy. He is the founding member of ‘noise of snow festival’ in Annecy. He defines himself as a hunter of sounds and collects the resonant matters from his different journeys (Syria, Iran, Roma, Venice, Madrid, Samarkand, or Madrid). He has won awards from several international competitions: gmeb in Bourges, the Luigi russolo prize in Italy, la muse in circuit (Mauricio Kagel prize), cimes-fics in Prague. He received the radio France international award “hunters of sounds” in 2000 for “captain cook”. Since 2010, he organizes the Luigi russolo award.
The show will include 2 solo electronic sets by both pacific 231 and lt. caramel
