Curatorial Labs: Beirut Edition

Beirut Art Center in collaboration with the British Council present a hybrid, practice-based curatorial development program. The inaugural edition nurtures early-career curators based in Beirut through a structured learning journey grounded in site-specific research, critical dialogue, and experimental exhibition-making.

The program invites three emerging curators to explore what it means to curate in a moment of structural uncertainty and creative possibility. Participants engage in a workshops, mentorship, site visits, and hands-on production leading to a public presentation and publication. The program places strong emphasis on iteration, collaboration, and process, foregrounding the exhibition as a living research tool.

A distinctive feature of this edition is an opening shadowing period with curator Tarek Abou El Fetouh, providing participants with direct exposure to active curatorial practice before the structured program begins. UK-based mentors are paired with participants for a dedicated mentorship track, contributing to proposal development and the final presentation.
