Daniele Genadry

Daniele Genadry works with various media- painting and drawing, printmaking, and photography- to examine how distance, light, and movement affect our visual experience. Through her practice, she considers the potential of a picture to generate its own temporality (light), and how a mediated field of vision can sensitize our perception. Genadry studied studio art and mathematics at Dartmouth College, NH (BA 2002) and painting at the Slade School of Art in London (MFA 2008). She has participated in residencies at The Bronx Museum, Anderson Ranch Art Center (USA), Fondazione Ratti (Italy), Frans Masereel Centrum (Belgium), and in 2013-14 she was the Abbey Scholar at the British School in Rome. She has recently exhibited at Gypsum Gallery, Cairo; Sharjah Biennial 13, UAE; National Museum, Tucuman; Sursock Museum, Beirut; Taymour Grahne Gallery, NYC; SMBA, Amsterdam; Transition Gallery, London; Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, Rome; and The Bronx Museum, NYC. In 2015, she was the recipient of the NYFA/Basil H. Alkazzi Award for Excellence in Painting. Since 2016, Genadry lives and works in Beirut, and teaches at the American University of Beirut.
