The Arab image foundation and Beirut art center present: a panel with Kader Attia, Hareth Boustany, Lamia Joreige, and Nora Kennedy, moderated by Akram Zaatari

“Is there a second life to objects after they lose their initial function? Why is it important to preserve objects and what relationship do we establish to the future by preserving them?
This panel discusses preservation and the museum in relation to collecting and preservation practices by institutions and artists.

This panel is made possible through the middle east photograph preservation initiative (meppi), led by the Arab image foundation jointly with the University of Delaware, the metropolitan museum of art, and the Getty conservation institute.
Sixteen representatives from significant photograph collections and archives in the Middle East will be attending the meppi follow-up meeting in Beirut from 26-30 January 2015.
Meppi is supported by a generous grant from the Andrew w. Mellon Foundation and additional funding from the Getty conservation institute.
