About the performances

for the release of Ziad Nawfal’s “the ruptured sessions volume 2”, Lebanese electro-acoustic musician Tarek Atoui, an all-too-rare presence on Lebanon’s music scene, will hold 2 performances, different in outlook and scope.

For the 1st of these, Atoui will subject the live emanations from Lebanese musicians Charbel Haber and Tony Elieh to an intricate procedure of live processing, thus creating a mesh of electronically-induced layers and organic sounds.

In the 2nd performance of the evening, Atoui joins forces with French powerhouse drummer Uriel Barthélémi and Franco-Iraki dancer Entissar Al Hamdany, for a thrilling encounter that hovers between free jazz, beat-driven electronics, and body performance.

About the sessions

“the ruptured sessions” is a series of live recordings that take place in the studios of Radio Lebanon 96.2fm, during the weekly “ruptures” program. These recordings focus on musicians from Lebanon’s alternative music scenes (alternative folk & rock, electronica, improvisation, etc.), as well as visiting foreign musicians.

The 2nd volume of “the ruptured sessions” brings together prominent musicians from Beirut’s “experimental” scene, including Mazen Kerbaj, Osman Arabi, Scrambled Eggs, Sharif Sehnaoui, Stéphane Rives, and Tarek Atoui.

This event is organized by ruptured, in partnership with Beirut art center, Tunefork & Woody Nawfal
