Public Gatherings: “Ground to Dust” Exhibition | Gathering 1: Film Screening “They No Longer See the Land, but Square Meters”

All events will begin with a half-hour tour of the exhibition led by members of Public Works Studio

The film will be followed by a discussion with the collaborating artists: Hashem Adnan, Majd el-Hamwi, Ghassan Halwani, and Saseen Kawzaly.

The first in a series of independent short films produced by Public Works Studio in collaboration with four artists, based on the research project “Master-Planning in Lebanon: Manufacturing Landscapes of Inequality”.

Currently a work in progress, the film deals with the dispossession that the state’s land and housing policies have enabled. It looks into the inevitable result of policies relying on commodifying and financializing the land, a permanent loss  on all  levels – physical, social, private and intimate.
