Rencontres Internationales Paris/berlin/Madrid nouveau cinéma ET art contemporain

for the second year, the rencontres internationales have been invited to Beirut art center for 3 days of screenings and meetings, a space for discovery and thought on practices between new cinema and contemporary art, in the presence of a number of guests.

This year, films and videos specifically chosen by Beirut art center, in a collaborative work of programming, are placed in dialogue with works from five thematic screening sessions. This will be a dialogue between works from France and Lebanon in the framework of an international programming.

There will be a workshop on film given by the video director Christian Barani, entitled ecriture du Hasard ET approche documentaire for the students and all age groups.

There will also be a conference-debate with Christian Merlhiot, co-director of the ‘pavillon – creative laboratory’ at the palais de Tokyo in Paris, and founder of the collective pointligneplan. He will step in on questions related to new issues in the field of the moving image, as well as artists’ accompaniment, and problems of presenting artworks.

Every year, the rencontres Internationales present an international program in three cities: Paris at the centre Georges Pompidou, Berlin at the haus der kulturen der welt and Madrid at the Spanish cinemathèque. The event explores practices between cinema and contemporary art and gathers 150 works from 40 countries with screenings, a video and multimedia exhibition, and daily debates and roundtables. The event is a unique platform in Europe where artists can meet, exchange ideas with a large audience and set up new projects. It reflects specificities and convergences of artistic practices between new cinema and contemporary art, explores emerging artistic forms and their critical purposes, and provides the necessary opportunity for points of view to cross and be exchanged.

Pour la deuxième année, les rencontres Internationales sont invitées au Beirut art center pour 3 jours de projection et de rencontre, un espace de découverte et de réflexion entre nouveau cinéma et art contemporain, en présence de plusieurs invités.

cette année, des films et vidéos spécialement choisies par le Beirut art center dans un travail collaboratif de programmation viennent dialoguer avec les œuvres des cinq séances thématiques proposées. un dialogue entre des œuvres provenant de France et du liban au sein d’une programmation internationale.

un workshop de réalisation conduit par le vidéaste Christian barani intitulé “ecriture du hasard et approche documentaire” est proposé sur inscription aux étudiants et à tout public.

aussi, une conférence-débat avec Christian merlhiot, cinéaste, codirecteur du pavillon – laboratoire de création du palais de Tokyo à Paris, et fondateur du collectif de diffusion pointligneplan. il interviendra sur des questions liées aux nouveaux enjeux dans le domaine de l’image en mouvement, de l’accompagnement des artistes et des problématiques de présentation des œuvres.
